Types of travel coverage for different situations

People travel for all kinds of reasons. Whether you’re headed for an overseas wedding shoot or bringing your family on vacation, here are some travel coverage that you should know about.

1. If you’re going for wedding shoots…

Be it the backdrop of the iconic Eiffel Tower or the Seoul Forest in Korea, it is an emerging trend for couples to travel overseas for a photoshoot. That would also mean bringing along bridal attires, wedding accessories, jewelries—along with the risk of damaging or losing them. Some travel insurance plans provide coverage for wedding clothing and accessories, which would come in handy for newly-weds.

2. If you’re leaving your pet behind…

Going on a holiday often means placing your pet under the care of a pet hotel. In unfortunate cases where injury or illness befall you while overseas, your pet would be due for a prolonged stay. If you are worried about leaving your pet behind on vacation, some travel insurance plans provide domestic pets accommodation coverage. This means that the additional costs of any extended stay of your pet charged by a licensed pet hotel will be covered by the insurer.

3. If you’re looking for adventures…

Being an adrenaline junkie at heart, you look forward to thrilling activities such as bungee jumping. But as much as you may love taking risks, it would be wiser to take part in such activities with insurance protection. The risk of serious injury and the cost of emergency medical treatment is high, so ensure that any high-risk activity you’re going for is included under the coverage.

4. If you’re bringing your family on a vacation…

Children can be more susceptible to food poisoning in a different country, as well as knocks and injuries in hotels that may not be child-proof. With this in mind, it is wise to purchase family insurance packages that not only cover for your whole family (including kids and the elderly), but could also be offered at a cheaper rate when compared to individual travel policies.

5. If you are going on a babymoon…

Pregnant women could require urgent medical attention at the most unexpected timings, especially when they are near to their due date. Take note that most travel insurance policies do not cover for cancellation for reasons related to pregnancy, even with a doctor’s recommendation at hand. Due to the complicated nature of pregnancy, it is important and could be worthwhile to go through your travel insurance plan with your agent thoroughly when you are with child.
