Retaining the ‘Top Local Woman’ title after three qualifying races, Ms. Cheung secured her all-expenses-paid invitation to Chiang Mai to participate in the MSIG Thailand Action Asia 50, winning 2nd place in the 54km category. Meanwhile, Mr. Hui’s blistering time of 06:48:58 was easily enough to secure the championship title.

Mr. Henry Hui, the Chief Operating Officer of MSIG Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited said “We are thrilled that our local representatives performed so well. As sponsors of the MSIG Action Asia Development Programme, we will now be cheering these winners on to even greater success on the world stage, by helping them to prepare for the World Championships in Europe in July 2018,”

MSIG cooperated with Action Asia to launch the MSIG Action Asia Development Programme, which is the first programme of its kind for local Hong Kong trail runners. To qualify for the programme, runners need to be Hong Kong-born, and must participate in at least two 50-kilometre races in the 2017/18 MSIG HK50 Series. The highest-ranked local male and female runners at the end of the four-race series will also win a five-month comprehensive professional coaching programme to prepare them for the 2018 Skyrunning World Championships in Scotland. Plus, in the lead up to the World Championships, MSIG Action Asia Development Programme winners will also be awarded free entry to the Lijiang Yunnan Action Asia 3 Day Ultra to be held in mainland China in April 2018.

The final leg of the 2017/18 MSIG 50 series - MSIG Sai Kung 50 - will be held on Saturday 10th Feb. We look forward to seeing you there!
