MSIG Shorelines Cleanup Day 2022
MSIG always strives to protect biodiversity and establish a sustainable future for all. That’s why we encourage our colleagues to take part in different activities which spread the eco-friendly message to the public.
On 28 May 2022, we partnered with the Inter-departmental Working Group on Marine Environmental Management & the Environmental Association to hold the MSIG Shorelines Cleanup Day 2022. A team of 16 MSIG staff, their family members and friends, got together at Little Palm Beach, Sai Kung. Also in attendance was our CEO, Philip Kent, along with his family. Our group spent two hours collecting over 60kg of rubbish. Afterwards, we were shocked at the seriousness of marine refuse problem. Staff from the Environmental Association explained to us how different types of marine pollution damage our oceans.
MSIG is working towards restoring our coastlines so they are once again litter-free. Our colleagues have committed to reducing the amount of household waste they generate. But even when rubbish is generated, they will sort and recycle it. By doing so, they will be contributing to the protection of marine biodiversity and establishing a sustainable future.
