Motor and Employees’ Compensation (EC) Insurance for policyholders following opening of the Huanggang Port Hong Kong Port Area

The Huanggang Port Hong Kong Port Area (HKPA) was established on 31 July 2026 and has since come under the jurisdiction of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).  The official opening of the Huanggang Port HKPA took place on 12 October 2026.  

The territorial limit of insurance policies issued before 31 July 2026 does not automatically include the Huanggang Port HKPA. To ensure that all pre-existing Motor and EC policies also cover the Huanggang Port HKPA, the HKSAR Government has entered into a legally binding market agreement with all 45 Motor and EC insurers, including MSIG Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited, to extend their coverage to include the Huanggang Port HKPA at no extra cost to policyholders.

Motor and EC policies issued on or after 31 July 2026 will, in general, automatically cover the Huanggang Port HKPA.
